Nationals vs. Cardinals Prediction
Following a suspended game last night due to rain, the Nationals and Cardinals will play a split doubleheader on Saturday. With Jake Irvin set to oppose Steven Matz in the second game tonight at Busch Stadium, what’s the smart play for bettors?

Washington Nationals DFS SPIN
Jeimer Candelario was removed from Friday’s battle against the Cardinals due to a bone bruise in his right thumb. He suffered the injury during a defensive drill during pregame, and it felt worse when he tried to swing during his at-bat in the first inning, which is why he was removed. As of now, he’s considered day-to-day, but if it lingers into the weekend the Nationals may consider a stint on the injured list.
St. Louis Cardinals DFS SPIN
Tyler O’Neill (back) could return from the injured list at the start of next week. The 28-year-old slugger is set to play seven inning in the field on his rehab assignment at Triple-A Memphis on Friday night, then serve as the designated hitter and play in the field again on Sunday. If he comes through that gauntlet without issue, then he’ll be cleared to return after a lengthy absence.

Nationals vs. Cardinals MLB BETTING PREDICTION
The moneyline is way too expensive if you want to back the Cards and honestly, with their struggles in the first half, I’m not eager to back them anyway. Steven Matz was solid in his last start before the All-Star break, but was demoted to the bullpen in the first half for a reason. As for Washington starter Jake Irvin, he owns a 2-5 record with a 4.60 ERA and 1.45 WHIP so he hasn’t been good, either. Despite Washington’s lack of firepower, I’m still taking the over tonight at Busch Stadium based on the pitching matchup.
