Can Mets bounce back against Royals?
Sunday night, the Mets relived last fall’s misery all over again.
Not only did they watch as Kansas City raised its championship banner before the game, Terry Collins’ players then promptly fell to the same squad that defeated them in the 2015 World Series. The Royals sprinted out to a four-run lead and held on for a 4-3 triumph in this season’s first primetime affair.
Suffice it to say, Noah Syndergaard won’t have much trouble getting amped up for tonight’s assignment. Online sports book Bovada.lv lists his team as a 1.5-run favorite in the series finale at Kauffmann Stadium.
New York’s 23-year-old flamethrower invoked Kansas City’s ire when he opened Game 3 of the Fall Classic by firing a heater near the head of Alcides Escobar. The Mets waded through the noise on that evening to prevail, though, and seem poised to do the same in this setting.

For starters, the visitors understand what Chris Young brings to the table. The Royals’ hurler is 0-1 with a 6.05 ERA in four career appearance against New York. If the Mets receive anything from David Wright and Yoenis Cespedes (a combined 2 for 20 vs. Young), Ned Yost may be forced to dip into his all-world bullpen much earlier than anticipated.
