Mets vs. Phillies Pick
The New York Mets will go for their fourth consecutive victory tonight when they visit the Philadelphia Phillies at 7:05PM ET.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Mets are -132 money line favorites over the Phillies, who have odds of +122 to pull off the upset. The total, meanwhile, is sitting at 8 runs with Bartolo Colon set to face Jeremy Hellickson in the pitching matchup.
Bet Tonight’s Mets vs. Phillies Game
Colon has been outstanding through his three outings (two starts this season), posting a 1-1 record with a 2.13 ERA while allowing just three earned runs on 14 hits. His sabermetric statistics back up his ERA, as he’s posted a 2.28 FIP to go along with a K/9 rate of 9.24 and a BB/9 rate of just 0.71. He’s pitched well despite receiving some poor luck in the batted-balls category (.351).
Hellickson, meanwhile, is coming off a rough start against Washington in which he was tagged for six runs (five earned) off seven hits. Still, his FIP is a respectable 3.34 while his strikeout (8.59) and walk (1.23) rates are both healthy as well. What is somewhat concerning, however, is that he doesn’t have better numbers despite the .262 BABIP, which indicates he’s been somewhat fortunate with batted balls this season.
