Yankees vs. Tigers Pick
The Detroit Tigers and New York Yankees meet up in the rubber match of their weekend series tonight for ESPN Sunday Night Baseball at 8PM ET.
The Tigers have their ace Justin Verlander on the mound to face Masahiro Tanaka of the Yankees. According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Detroit is favored at home, as the Tigers are getting odds of -120 to win, while the Yankees are getting a money line of +110 to win. The over/under total for the game has been set at 7.5 runs.
The Tigers are now 3-1 on the season and 1-1 at home while the Yankees are 3-2 overall and 1-1 on the road. The Tigers won the series opener on Friday, 4-0 behind the arm of Jordan Zimmerman. However, New York bounced back with an 8-4 win on Saturday behind some solid hitting. The Yankees have now won six of their last eight against Detroit.

Verlander was solid in his first start, but had a little letdown in his final inning. Tanaka was similar, though the Yankees suffered a loss with him on the mound. New York has now lost four straight when Tanaka has taken the mound. The Tigers are 4-1 in Verlander’s last five starts and Detroit has scored at least four runs in every game this season, which means the hitting is there. Tonight, they should have a better pitching performance than what they got on Saturday. Look for Detroit to win.
