Yankees sweep past Twins
New York finished its sweep of Minnesota Monday night on the road with a 5-1 victory in Game 3 of the ALDS. Gleyber Torres led the Yankees offense as he ended the game 3-for-4 with a solo home run, two doubles and three runs scored. Didi Gregorius ended the game 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Cameron Maybin went 1-for-1 off the bench with a solo home run. Chad Green picked up the win in relief as he allowed two hits with one strikeout over 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief. Aroldis Chapman notched save as he gave up one hit with three strikeouts and one walk over 1 2/3 innings. Masahiro Tanaka gets the start tonight after allowing one earned run on three hits with seven strikeouts and one walk over five innings to pick up the win in an 8-2 home victory in Game 2 of the ALDS against Minnesota.
Astros roll in Game 5
Houston scored four runs in the first inning Thursday night in a 6-1 home win over Tampa Bay in Game 5 of the ALDS. Gerrit Cole was dominant on the mound as he allowed one earned run on two hits with 10 strikeouts and two walks over eight innings. Michael Brantley helped lead the Astros offensively as he went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and two runs scored. Jose Altuve was 2-for-4 with a homer, two runs and two RBIs. Alex Bregman finished 1-for-4 with a double, a run scored and two RBIs. Zack Greinke starts tonight and will look to rebound from his Game 3 start in the ALDS at Tampa Bay where he gave up six earned runs on five hits over 3 2/3 innings, striking out five and walking one.
MLB Betting Trends
New York
The Yankees are 41-17 in their last 58 Saturday games. New York is 2-12 in its last 14 ALCS road games.
Houston
The Astros are 4-1 in the last five Greinke starts. Houston is 38-14 in its last 52 Saturday games.
Prediction:
Greinke doesn’t have many poor starts, but he was torched by Tampa Bay. I like his matchup better today with the Yankees because he’s great at using a hitter’s power against him. I think he’ll sufficiently keep a New York offense that hasn’t seen real game action in five days off balance. Tanaka is an inconsistent pitcher and while I think he’ll have an alright showing today, Houston’s offense is too good at home to allow him plus the Yankees bullpen to hold them down for long. Go with Houston in Game 1 here.
