Tanaka, Torres guide Yankees to win
New York won in 7-0 shutout fashion Saturday night in Game 1 of the ALCS at Houston. Masahiro Tanaka was masterful on the mound as he gave up only one hit with four strikeouts and one walk over six innings to post the win. Gleyber Torres led the Yankees offensively as he went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double and five RBIs. D.J. LeMahieu ended the night 2-for-4 with a walk and three runs scored. Giancarlo Stanton and Gio Urshela were both 2-for-4 with a solo home run. James Paxton will start tonight after allowing three earned runs on five hits with eight strikeouts and one walk over 4 2/3 innings in a 10-4 win over Minnesota in Game 1 of the ALDS.
Astros shut down in Game 1
Houston only managed three hits Saturday night as it fell 7-0 at home against New York in Game 1 of the ALCS. Kyle Tucker paced the Astros offense as he finished 1-for-2, while Jose Altuve ended the game 1-for-3. Michael Brantley was 1-for-4. Zack Greinke took the loss as he surrendered three earned runs on seven hits with six strikeouts and no walks over six innings. MLB Betting Trends
New York
The Yankees are 66-32 in their last 98 games overall. New York is 6-0 in the last six Paxton road starts.
Houston
The Astros are 21-5 in their last 26 Sunday games. Houston is 5-1 in the last six Verlander home starts.
Prediction:
I’m actually surprised this line isn’t wider. Verlander is coming off a poor outing on short rest, but he’s also Justin Verlander and I fully expect him to have a good outing here. Paxton is in a bad spot here as the Astros feast on lefties and are hungry to get something done after all the goose eggs yesterday. This just seems like a great bounceback spot for a team that was absolutely dominant at home this season. I’m taking Houston tonight.
