Yankees hottest team in MLB
The Yankees have won nine straight coming into tonight, the longest win streak in MLB. They are coming off an impressive series sweep at the Angels this weekend. New York is now 18-9 overall and 7-4 on the road. The Yankees are scoring 6.04 runs per game this season while allowing 4.30 per contest.
Sonny Gray gets the start on Monday night looking to get on track himself this season. He is 1-1 through five starts with a 7.71 ERA and a 2.14 WHIP. He has given up at least three earned runs in his last four starts and has 19 strikeouts with 16 walks over 21 innings this year.
Astros still finding ways to win
The Houston Astros are coming off a series win over the Athletics. Though they are just 3-3 in their last six, they still have won six of their last 10. Houston is now 19-10 on the season and 9-6 at home. The Astros are putting up 5.07 runs per game this season while allowing 2.79 per contest.
Charlie Morton starts for Houston tonight. He is 3-0 through five starts. He has a 1.86 ERA with a 1.10 WHIP. Morton has pitched 29 innings and has 11 walks with 35 strikeouts.
MLB Betting Trends
New York
The Yankees have won their last four road games and 13 of their last 16 overall. They also have won 23 of their last 30 Monday games.
Houston
The Astros have won five straight against AL East opponents and 28 of their last 37 home games. They also have won eight of their last 11 series openers when Morton starts.
Prediction:
The Yankees are on a tear right now, but it’s hard to sustain win streaks of this level. It’s even tougher when you have a struggling pitcher on the mound. Gray is likely to struggle on the road against this Houston lineup. Morton may not be able to continue his dominant numbers against a team like New York, but I still think he will do enough to lead the Astros to a win.
The Pick: Houston Astros -150
