Yankees cruise again
New York rolled to an 8-2 victory Saturday night at home versus Minnesota to take a 2-0 lead in the ALDS. A seven-run third inning was highlighted by a Didi Gregorius grand slam as he led the offense by going 2-for-3 with the home run plus a walk and four RBIs. Edwin Encarnacion went 2-for-4 with a walk, a run scored and an RBI. Aaron Judge finished 2-for-3 with two walks and a run. Masahiro Tanaka picked up the win as he gave up one earned run on three hits with seven strikeouts and one walk over five innings. Luis Severino gets the start tonight as he enters with a 1-1 record, 1.50 ERA and 1.00 WHIP plus 17 strikeouts over 12 innings pitched.
Twins tripped up
Minnesota gave up seven runs in the third inning Saturday night at New York as it fell 8-2 in Game 3 of the ALDS. Mitch Garver helped pace the Twins offense as he ended the game 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Luis Arraez was 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI. Nelson Cruz finished 1-for-3 with a walk and a run. Randy Dobnak took the loss as he allowed four earned runs on six hits with no strikeouts and two walks over two innings. MLB Betting Trends
New York
The Yankees are 1-5 in their last six road games. New York is 42-14 in the last 56 Severino starts.
Minnesota
The Twins are 4-19 in their last 23 ALDS games. Minnesota is 1-10 in its last 11 playoff home games.
Prediction:
Minnesota has lost its last 15 playoff games. Eventually, that streak will come to an end. I’m banking on that not happening this year. I think the Yankees are in their heads at this point and not even home-field advantage can save them. Odorizzi regressed during the second half of the season, while Severino looked sharp after returning from injury in September and has a strong bullpen behind him. Go with New York to finish the sweep.
