New York Yankees Fantasy Spin

J.A. Happ allowed just two runs over seven innings, but didn’t factor in the decision in his start against the Angels on Monday. Happ was decent in his previous outing against the Red Sox on Wednesday, but this was pretty easily his best start of the year. The only blemish was a two-run shot that he allowed to Jonathan Lucroy in the second inning. After that, the veteran southpaw was excellent, allowing just three hits in the outing with two walks and five strikeouts. Happ still owns a 5.96 ERA, but his track-record suggests that you shouldn’t be too concerned by the poor month. He’s scheduled to face the Giants next, so don’t be surprised if the ERA drops another run after that effort.

San Francisco Giants Fantasy Spin

Derek Holland pitched relatively well in a losing effort against the Pirates on Saturday afternoon, allowing three runs on four hits over his five innings of work. The veteran left-hander punched out seven on the day while issuing only one free pass. All of the damage done against him stemmed from his inability to keep the ball in the yard, with Jung Ho Kang blasting a solo homer in the fourth inning and Cole Tucker adding a two-run shot in the fifth. Holland will carry a 4.33 ERA and 1.22 WHIP into Saturday’s start against the Yankees.

MLB Betting Trends

New York

The Yankees are 6-1 in Happ’s last seven road starts and are 12-5 in his last 17 outings overall.

San Francisco

The Giants are 1-5 in Derek Holland’s last six starts and are 1-4 in his five home outings.

Prediction:

I’m not sure why the Yankees are so cheap today but I’m going to take advantage. The Bombers are 8-2 in their last 10 games and 4-1 in their last five road games. They have an all-star team on IL right now but they keep producing runs, including last night when they scored seven runs total in a game that Madison Bumgarner started for the Giants (not every run was scored off Mad Bum). Meanwhile, the Giants have not been profitable when Holland starts, losing five of his last six outings overall and going 1-4 in his last five home starts.

The Pick: New York Yankees -110
