Rich Hill will be making his second start of the season tonight for Oakland after he got the call on opening night due to Sonny Gray suffering from an illness. Hill wasn’t sharp, hitting two batters and lasting just 2 2/3 innings against the White Sox. He’s still working to hone his mechanics after not showing quality command of his pitches until his final Cactus League start.

Nathan Karns will start for the Mariners after he earned the fifth spot in the team’s rotation in spring training. He allowed four hits and two earned runs in six innings hi his longest and most consistent start of springing training on March 28. In his previous outing, he allowed eight hits and nine runs (Seven earned) in just 2 1/3 innings.
Given how Hill has already shaken off the nerves this season and Karns will be making his season debut, the A’s offer plenty of value for bettors tonight. Dating back to last season, Seattle is 1-4 in its last five home games and 1-5 in its last six games versus a left-handed starter.
