San Diego Padres DFS SPIN
Manny Machado finished 0-for-5 and against the Pirates in Thursday’s loss. He grounded out against David Bednar to end the game. Machado seemed to be warming up in recent weeks, but he managed to go just 2-for-13 as the Padres were swept by the Pirates. Overall, he’s batting .248/.291/.399 in 278 plate appearances. Incredibly, Statcast thinks he’s actually overachieving a bit, given his career-worst exit velocity numbers.
Cincinnati Reds DFS SPIN
TJ Friedl went 3-for-5 with a 10th-inning homer and two steals in the Reds’ 11-7 defeat of the Orioles on Wednesday. The Reds had an RBI triple from Will Benson and Friedl’s two-run homer to break things open in the 10th. Friedl also drove in a run with a single earlier in the game, giving him three RBI to go along with three runs scored. It was a rather rare road outburst for Friedl, who had an OPS more than 200 points higher in Cincinnati in his career. He doesn’t hit the ball hard very often, but when he does, he usually seems to make it count, and he’s currently sporting an .886 OPS in spite of his lack of exit velocity.
