San Diego Padres DFS SPIN
Jake Cronenworth went 0-for-4 on Thursday, leaving him 2-for-25 to start the second half. Cronenworth was a very valuable player for the Padres in his first three seasons, but it’s still pretty baffling that the team committed to him all the way through 2030 this spring. His exit velocity numbers have declined every year since he debuted, while his strikeout rate has gone in the other direction, and he’ll turn 30 before the seven-year extension even kicks in next year. Mostly starting at first, he’s been a replacement level player while hitting .207/.305/.346 this year. He’ll probably improve on that line some, but his ceiling seems pretty low at this point.
Detroit Tigers DFS SPIN
Javier Baez went 1-for-3 with a solo homer on Wednesday in a 3-2 win over the Royals. Baez brought the first run of the game in on a solo homer off Ryan Yarbrough in the second inning. He reached base once more with a walk in the sixth. The 30-year-old shortstop is batting .227/.264/.337 with seven homers, 46 RBI, and nine steals across 376 plate appearances.

The Padres have cashed the under in 29 of their last 46 away games, which equates to a +10.50 units over that span. On the other side, the under has hit in nine of the Tigers’ last 11 home games and with the total sitting at 9 runs, I see value in the under.
