Herrera won’t slow down
Phillies center fielder Odubel Herrera has been on fire all season and his batting average currently sits at .360 with six home runs and 24 RBIs over 139 at-bats. He is hitting out of the third spot in the Philadelphia order and is thriving there, with five multi-hit games and three home runs over his last seven total contests. He has a .430 on-base percentage and a .992 OPS.
Nick Pivetta will get the start for Philly tonight and he carries a 2-2 record and 4.15 ERA in over eight starts. He threw five shutout innings his last start, giving up four hits and striking out seven while walking none in an 11-3 home win over the Giants.
Machado carrying O’s offense
The future of Baltimore third baseman Manny Machado could very well be with another team as his free agency looms, but right now he is raking in Baltimore. Machado comes into tonight’s game batting .350 with 13 home runs and 38 RBIs, having hit four homers in a three-game stretch last week. He is getting on base at a .431 clip, while his OPS now stands at 1.100.
The start for the Orioles tonight will go to Andrew Cashner (1-4, 4.84 ERA), who allowed three earned runs on six hits with three strikeouts and two walks over six innings in a 5-3 home win over the Royals his last start.
MLB Betting Trends
Philadelphia
The Phillies are 7-3 in their last 10 Tuesday games. Philadelphia is 35-83 in its last 108 road games.
Baltimore
The over is 9-1 in the last 10 Orioles interleague games. Baltimore is 17-47 in its last 64 games overall.
Prediction:
I don’t really trust either of these pitchers, but the Phillies have been much better at home this season (16-6) than the 7-10 mark they sport on the road. Baltimore has been pathetic on the road (3-16), but competitive in home games at 10-12. I’m going to believe the Orioles bring a strong effort tonight and get the win as a slight dog.
