Philadelphia Phillies DFS SPIN
José Alvarado struck out three in the eighth inning Friday for a hold against the Reds. It looked like Alvarado was going to set up for Craig Kimbrel tonight, but after the Phillies scored three times in the top of the ninth to make it a six-run game, Connor Brogdon finished up. In spite of a misstep in his previous appearance, Alvarado has been far and away the most impressive of Philadelphia’s relievers; he has a 1.42 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings. Since he’s their top lefty, the Phillies don’t want to turn him into a full-time closer. Still, he likely will wind up with some saves if he keeps throwing like this.
Cincinnati Reds DFS SPIN
Jonathan India went 1-for-4 with a sac fly and two RBI against the Phillies on Friday. India was 0.2 mph away from going 5-for-5 on hard-hit balls tonight; his balls in play ranged from 94.8 to 103.5 mph. Last year, just 29% of his balls in play were hard hit. Right now, he’s at 42%. He still has just one homer, but his stock is climbing.
