Pirates vs. Mets Prediction
Johan Oviedo will oppose Tylor Megill in Wednesday afternoon’s pitching matchup at Citi Field, where the Mets will host the Pirates at 1:10 p.m. ET. With the Mets listed as home favorites and the total sitting at 9 runs, what’s the smart bet today in New York?

Pittsburgh Pirates DFS SPIN
David Bednar worked a scoreless ninth with a three-run lead for his 25th save Tuesday. Bednar has pitched two scoreless innings the last three days after giving up five runs in his previous three appearances. He got six missed swings on 17 pitches tonight.
New York Mets DFS SPIN
David Peterson was pulled Tuesday after allowing one run and walking six in 3 2/3 innings versus the Pirates. Peterson allowed just three hits and struck out five, so he kept the Mets in the game. Still, there’s no good excuse for walking six versus the Pirates lineup. Peterson needs to show something down the stretch here if he expects to enter 2024 as a rotation candidate for the Mets. He currently has a 5.45 ERA and a 79/36 K/BB ratio in 82 2/3 innings.

Pirates vs. Mets MLB BETTING PREDICTION
Over his last 29 innings (five starts), Oviedo is 3-2 with a 4.03 ERA but his 4.72 FIP suggests that rougher times are ahead for the young starter. He’s also walking batters at a 4.03 BB/9 rate, which isn’t good, either. On the other side, Megill has only pitched a combined 10 innings over the past month. He’s 0-2 with a 9.00 ERA, although his 4.97 FIP suggests he’s pitched better than his ERA would indicate, although his overall numbers are rough. Unlike Oviedo, Megill isn’t walking batters at a high rate but he doesn’t miss bats, he doesn’t strike out many hitters and his HR/FB rate of 12.5% is trending poorly. That said, the Pirates haven’t hit well over the last month and I’m banking on Oviedo blowing up at some point. Give me the Mets.
