Pirates vs. Mariners Prediction
Will the Pittsburgh Pirates and Seattle Mariners push a high-scoring pace when they meet up tonight at 10:10PM ET?
The Pirates have Jonathon Niese on the mound to face Hisashi Iwakuma of the Mariners. According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Seattle is favored at home, as the Mariners are getting odds of -175 to win. Pittsburgh is listed with a money line of +160 to prevail, while the over/under total for the game has been set at 8.5 runs.
Pittsburgh is 37-40 on the season, 15-21 on the road and 47-29-1 with the over. Seattle is 38-38 overall, 17-19 at home and 36-35-5 with the over. These two teams haven’t met since the 2013 season. Pittsburgh has won three of the last four and the two have hit the under in eight of their last nine meetings.

Pittsburgh hands the ball to Niese today, who has a 9.18 ERA in his last three starts. That certainly doesn’t spell good results. Iwakuma hasn’t been very solid either, pushing an ERA near 6 in his last three outings. Look for both teams to find success against these struggling pitchers and for this game to hit the over with some cushion.
