Boston Red Sox DFS Notes
Nick Pivetta suffered his fifth loss of the season on Sunday, giving up three runs on three hits over 4 2/3 innings against the Rays. On the plus side for fantasy managers, at least Pivetta racked up six strikeouts in the contest while walking one. The bulk of the damage came with two outs in the third inning, where Mike Zunino drew a four-pitch walk and Brandon Lowe clobbered a two-run homer. They tacked on a run in the fifth on an RBI single by Manuel Margot. Pivetta has stumbled through his last four starts, and now sports an underwhelming 4.57 ERA and 1.32 WHIP on the season. He’ll look to get back on track on Saturday against the Blue Jays in Toronto.
Toronto Blue Jays DFS Notes
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. went 2-for-5 and hit a two-run homer Friday as the Blue Jays routed the Red Sox 12-4. The Jays seem to want to carve out a role for Corey Dickerson, so it’s important that Gurriel hit consistently in order to avoid losing playing time. He was dreadful for the first month and a half of the season and very good for the next month and a half. Since the beginning of July, though, he’s mostly treaded water, hitting .256 with three homers and 12 RBI in his last 25 games.
Padres vs. Nationals MLB Betting Prediction
The over is a perfect 5-0 in the last five meetings between these two teams in Toronto and is 5-1-1 in the Red Sox’ last seven games as a road underdog. The over is also 4-1 in their last five games versus fellow American League East rivals and is 5-2-1 in Boston’s last eight games as an underdog. On the other side, the over is 8-3-1 in the Blue Jays’ last 12 home games versus a right-handed starter and is 3-0-1 in their last four home games versus an opponent with a winning record.
