Red Sox vs. Rays MLB Prediction
The Rays took the series opener on Friday night versus the Red Sox and will look to cut into Boston’s lead in the American League East once again when the division rivals square off at 6:10 p.m. ET on Saturday as well. What’s the best play on the board when it comes to Game 2?
Game Snapshot
967 Boston Red Sox (-102) at 968 Tampa Bay Rays (-106); o/u 8
6:10 p.m. ET, Saturday, July 31, 2021
Tropicana Field, Tampa, FL
Boston Red Sox DFS Notes
Rafael Devers is expected to return to the Red Sox lineup on Saturday. Devers left the second game of Wednesday’s doubleheader due to tightness in his quad, then sat out Thursday’s and Friday’s games as well. It certainly sounds like a manageable issue and one in which he’ll be able to avoid the injured list. It’s possible that he gets an extra day off with left-hander Ryan Yarbrough on the hill on Saturday, but he should return before the end of the weekend.
Tampa Bay Rays DFS Notes
Yandy Diaz went 3-for-4 with a homer and a double to lead the Rays past the Red Sox 7-3 on Friday. Diaz has been on a tear this month, hitting .333/.394/.633 with four homers and just five strikeouts in 60 at-bats. The Rays’ lineup is quite a bit more imposing when he’s bringing some power to go along with his quality OBP, like he did in 2019.
Red Sox vs. Rays MLB Betting Prediction
The Red Sox are just 2-5 in their last seven games played at Tropicana Field and have dropped 17 of their last 25 meetings with the Rays overall. Boston is also just 2-5 in its last seven games when playing the second game of a series and is 2-5 in its last seven games played on astroturf. On the other side, the Rays are 11-3 in their last 14 games when facing an opponent with a winning record, are 15-6 in their last 21 games overall and have won 78 of their last 113 home games.
MLB BETTING PREDICTION: TAMPA BAY RAYS -106
