Verdugo led off the fourth inning with a single off of Chris Archer then came around to score the Red Sox first run on a sacrifice fly by Rafael Devers. He then reached on a fielder’s choice in the fifth inning and dashed home on a wild pitch. The 26-year-old also smacked a run-scoring double off of Trevor Megill in the seventh that trimmed the Red Sox deficit to three runs at 8-5. Nick Gordon homered, doubled and drove in a career-high six runs on Tuesday night as the Twins crushed the Red Sox 10-5 in Minnesota. The 26-year-old opened the scoring in the ballgame with a two-out, two-run double off of Kutter Crawford in the first inning. He then crushed a go-ahead 416-foot grand slam off of Ryan Brasier in the fifth inning — putting the Twins on top 7-4. Gordon is having a solid season for the Twins, slashing .276/.321/.431 with six homers, 30 RBI and six stolen bases in 315 plate appearances.
