Nelson didn’t pick up the win against the Cubs last weekend but did register a quality start in his season debut. He allowed one run on four hits, struck out eight and walked two in the no-decision. It was a solid debut for Nelson after he struggled this spring.
In his first start since 2014, Arroyo was lit up for six earned runs over four innings in a loss to the Cardinals. He allowed six hits, including two home runs, and walked three while striking out three in the shaky outing.
Bet Tonight’s Brewers vs. Reds Game
OUR PICK: The Reds are 5-1 in Arroyo’s last six home starts against the Brewers, although he hasn’t faced Milwaukee in quite some time. The Brewers are also 3-7 in their last 10 games against the Reds and are 3-9 in Nelson’s last 12 road starts. The Reds, meanwhile, have won four straight games, are 5-1 in their last six games following a victory, and are 4-0 in their last four divisional games after taking two of three from the Cardinals last weekend at Busch, and sweeping Pittsburgh earlier this week.
