Cincinnati Reds DFS SPIN
Tyler Stephenson has been diagnosed with a fractured right thumb. He will reportedly miss 4-6 weeks with the injury. It occurred on Thursday when a foul tip hit him in his right hand against the Diamondbacks, and X-rays have revealed the fracture. Aramis Garcia will likely get most of the reps behind the plate while Stephenson returns; likely at some point after the All-Star break.
St. Louis Cardinals DFS SPIN
Edmundo Sosa went 0-for-3 with a strikeout against the Rays on Thursday. The Cardinals have faced lefties in three of their last four games and started Sosa over Nolan Gorman in each of those. That’s not necessarily a move that’s going to benefit the offense, but the Cardinals are stronger defensively with Sosa at short and Tommy Edman at second than with Edman at short and Gorman at second. Unfortunately, Sosa is hitting just .200/.247/.250 in 85 plate appearances.
Reds vs. Cardinals MLB BETTING PREDICTION
The Reds have won five of their last seven games at Busch Stadium and are 4-0 in their last four games when playing the opener of a new series. The Cardinals, meanwhile, are just 2-9 in their last 11 games versus a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15 and are 1-5 in their last six home games following a road trip of seven or more days. After being swept by the Rays in Tampa while scoring a combined six runs in three games, the Cards are good fade material tonight.
