Doyle clobbers two-run home run

Brenton Doyle clobbered a two-run homer on Wednesday, helping to power the Rockies to victory over the Padres in San Diego. The dynamic 26-year-old outfielder opened the scoring in the contest with a 431-foot (108.5 mph EV) solo shot off of Michael King in the top half of the second inning. He also worked a walk in the third inning and raced around to score on a two-run single by Jacob Stallings. Doyle finished the afternoon 1-for-4 and is now slashing .281/.337/.464 with five long balls, 13 RBI and eight swipes on the season.

Soler to play another minor league game

Jorge Soler (shoulder) will play another minor league rehab contest on Thursday for Triple-A Sacramento. Soler went 0-for-4 with a strikeout on Wednesday in his rehab assignment debut. The 32-year-old slugger checked out fine after being hit in the head by a deflection during batting practice earlier this week and should be ready to return to San Francisco’s lineup at some point in the near future. He landed on the injured list earlier this month with a right shoulder strain.
