Kansas City Royals DFS SPIN
Michael Massey went 2-for-4 with a game-winning single in the bottom of the ninth Sunday as the Royals edged the Nationals 3-2. Massey has pulled off a big turnaround, going from hitting .167/.173/.180 in April to .308/.395/.492 so far in May. He’ll still sit against some lefties and he’s not going to be particularly strong in runs and RBI while hitting in the bottom half of the Kansas City lineup, so mixed leaguers can do better. He’s giving the Royals a big lift, though.
St. Louis Cardinals DFS SPIN
Ryan Helsley took his fourth blown save and loss after giving up two runs in the bottom of the ninth Sunday versus the Guardians. Helsley walked Myles Straw and Steven Kwan on eight consecutive balls with one out in the ninth. He rebounded to retire Amed Rosario, but he then gave up a game-ending double to José Ramírez. Helsley is throwing about as hard as ever, and while his strikeout rate is down from his ridiculous 2022 campaign, it’s still quite good at 30%. He’s also given up just one homer in 23 1/3 innings. These blowups he’s had this season are awfully frustrating, but the Cardinals should stick with him and he’ll probably be plenty effective the rest of the way.
