Padres end skid
San Diego is coming of a win yesterday, 8-3, to put an end to a three-game losing streak. The Padres are 39-40 on the season, 18-20 on the road and 38-34 with the over. San Diego has Matt Strahm on the mound today. He is 2-6 on the season with a 4.85 ERA.
The Padres were able to jump out quickly on Tuesday, scoring four runs in the second inning. They also overcame a pair of errors on defense. Manny Machado hit his 17th home run of the season and drove in two runs in his return to Baltimore while Manuel Margot had two hits, three RBI and scored two runs. Fernando Tatis Jr. also drove in two runs. Logan Allen got the start and gave up two runs over six innings to improve to 2-0 on the season.
Orioles continue slide
Following an 8-3 loss on Tuesday night, the Orioles have lost nine of their last 10 games coming into today. Baltimore is 22-57 on the season, 9-29 at home and 39-36 with the over. The Orioles have Dylan Bundy pitching today. He is 3-9 on the season with a 4.59 ERA.
Baltimore didn’t stand much chance early on as Jimmy Yacabonis gave up five runs over 2.2 innings of work to fall to 1-2 on the season. At the plate, Baltimore had 11 hits and stranded eight runners. Hanser Alberto had four of the team’s 11 hits in the loss while Richie Martin had two hits and a RBI.
MLB Betting Trends
San Diego
The Padres are 7-3 in their last 10 interleague games, but just 3-8 in their last 11 road games.
Baltimore
The Orioles are 5-1 in their last six interleague games against a left-handed starter, but 9-26 in their last 35 interleague games overall.
Prediction:
Strahm has been struggling as of late, allowing 17 runs over his last 12.2 innings of work. However, he faces a Baltimore team that is struggling a great deal. Bundy hasn’t been awful, but has given up at least three runs in six straight starts. San Diego is going to be able to continue to hit off him and I expect the Orioles to struggle at the plate once again today.
MLB Prediction: San Diego Padres -140
