Padres grab third straight
San Diego is riding a three-game win streak following a 3-2 win over the Reds on the road last night. San Diego is 59-65 on the season, 30-32 on the road and 59-57 with the over. Cal Quantrill takes the mound tonight. He is 6-3 on the season with a 3.23 ERA.
Monday was a pitching battle, as Eric Lauer threw four innings and allowed just one run while the San Diego pen following with five innings of 1-run ball. Luis Perdomo got his second win of the year in relief while Kirby Yates earned his 36th save of the season. At the plate, Francisco Mejia had a solo home run while Manny Machado also drove in a run.
Reds trip up
Cincinnati has lost seven of its last nine following the loss on Monday. They have also lost three of their last four at home. The Reds are now 58-66 on the season, 35-31 at home and 71-48 with the under. Cincinnati has Sonny Gray taking the mound this evening. He is 8-6 on the season with a 2.98 ERA.
Trevor Bauer had a pretty good start on Monday, pitching seven innings and allowed just two earned runs while striking out 11. However, he took the loss to fall to 1-2 with the Reds. Freddy Galvis homered and scored twice in the win while Jose Peraza and Tucker Barnhart each had two hits as well.
MLB Betting Trends
San Diego
The Padres are 1-5 in their last six Tuesday games and 4-10 in their last 14 games following a win.
Cincinnati
The Reds are 9-3 in their last 12 home games against a right-handed starter and 6-2 in their last eight against a losing team.
Prediction:
The Padres hope to keep the momentum going today behind Quantrill. He has been solid this year and over his last month. He has a 1.69 ERA over July and a 2.08 ERA over August. Sonny Gray has also been strong, as he hasn’t given up a run in his last three starts, a total of 18 innings. We can expect another pitching duel tonight, but I will go with Gray at home considering his hot streak. Neither team is too powerful at the plate, but I will side with the home team finding a way to win more often than not when the pitching matchup is so tight.
MLB Prediction: Cincinnati Reds -160
