Padres pitchers struggle again in loss
San Diego lost by a count of 14-8 Saturday night at Colorado to fall to 34-37 overall and 16-17 on the road. Ian Kinsler helped pace the Padres offense as he went 3-for-5 with a double and three RBIs. Eric Hosmer was 1-for-3 with two walks and three RBIs. Manny Machado ended the contest 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored. Eric Lauer took the loss as he surrendered five earned runs on 10 hits with two strikeouts and two walks over 2 2/3 innings. Nick Margevicius will start today for the Padres as he comes in with a 2-6 record, 5.02 ERA and 1.38 WHIP with 37 strikeouts over 52 innings.
Desmond hits grand slam
Colorado cruised to a 14-8 win at home Saturday night to move to 37-33 overall and 22-14 at home. Ian Desmond helped pace the Rockies offense as he went 2-for-4 with a grand slam, two runs scored and five RBIs. Charlie Blackmon was 4-for-6 with a double, three runs and two RBIs. David Dahl finished 3-for-4 with a double, three runs and three RBIs. German Marquez picked up the win as he gave up seven earned runs on 10 hits over 5 2/3 innings, striking out eight and walking four. Peter Lambert draws the start today for Colorado as he enters with a 2-0 record, 1.50 ERA and 0.83 WHIP with 12 strikeouts over 12 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
San Diego
The Padres are 1-5 in their last six road games. San Diego is 1-4 in its last five games versus the NL West.
Colorado
The Rockies are 4-0 in their last four game fours of a series. Colorado is 14-6 in its last 20 games overall.
Prediction:
The Rockies took the Padres to the woodshed yesterday and I can’t imagine Margevicius will fair a whole lot better. Colorado crushes lefties at home and with Lambert having his confidence grow the last couple starts, it might be another game where the Rockies run away and hide.
