Bet Tonight’s Padres vs. Phillies Game
San Diego will throw Robbie Erlin tonight against the Phillies. He’ll be pitching on three days’ rest after throwing 41 pitches in a relief appearance on Friday against the Rockies. With Tyson Ross (shoulder) being placed on the disabled list, the Padres were forced to shift their rotation around. Erlin posted a 4.76 ERA in three starts for San Diego last season.
Philadelphia will counter with Charlie Morton, who allowed six runs in just 3 2/3 innings last Thursday in a loss to the Reds. Most of his trouble came when he faced Cincinnati’s lineup for a second time, as he allowed just one run through three innings but then gave up a three-run homer to Jay Bruce in the fourth. He also allowed a walk and a single before he was lifted in that inning.

Despite their win yesterday, the Padres are just 2-7 in their last nine games in Philadelphia and 16-37 in their last 53 games overall versus the Phillies. With Erlin pitching on short rest, Philadelphia is a nice buy at only -105.
