Padres fall in high-scoring affair
San Diego fell by a score of 11-10 Sunday afternoon in its series finale at the Dodgers. The Padres gave up two runs in the eighth and two more in the ninth to blow their 10-7 lead. Eric Hosmer helped lead the San Diego offense as he finished 1-for-5 with a grand slam and five RBIs. Manuel Margot was 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Francisco Mejia was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Kirby Yates suffered the loss in relief as he allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits with no strikeouts or walks over two-thirds of an inning. Dinelson Lamet gets the start tonight as he enters with an 0-2 record, 5.09 ERA and 1.39 WHIP with 30 strikeouts over 23 innings.
Mariners drop fourth straight
Seattle was swept at Houston as it lost the finale by a count of 3-1 Sunday afternoon. Kyle Seager provided the offense as he finished 2-for-4 with a solo home run. Dylan Moore ended the game 1-for-2 with a triple plus a walk. J.P. Crawford finished 1-for-3. Tommy Milone took the loss as the bulk reliever as he gave up two earned runs on four hits with seven strikeouts and one walk over five innings. Wade LeBlanc will take the mound tonight for the M’s as he comes in with a 6-4 record, 5.17 ERA and 1.41 WHIP with 65 strikeouts over 87 innings pitched.
MLB Betting Trends
San Diego
The Padres are 7-2 in their last nine games versus the AL West. San Diego is 1-4 in its last five games overall.
Seattle
The Mariners are 5-0 in their last five home games. Seattle is 0-6 in the last six meetings.
Prediction:
San Diego let one get away at LA, but I like its chances here. Lamet has been good in spurts and is on the verge of putting a complete start together. With the Mariners offense really struggling lately, I think this is where Lamet turns a corner. The bullpen should be rested after a day off yesterday and LeBlanc is nothing to write home about on the other side. Bet on the Padres to get the win here.
