Giants vs. Rockies Prediction
Could the Colorado Rockies be a good value play today as a home underdog versus the San Francisco Giants? First pitch is set for 3:10 – here’s our pick for game.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Giants are -130 money line favorites versus the Rockies, who are +110 to pull off the upset today at home. With Matt Cain taking on Jorge De La Rosa in the pitching matchup, the total currently sits at 11.5 runs.
Bet Today’s Giants vs. Rockies Game
Cain looked pretty good in his season debut last Friday versus the Dodgers. He allowed just two runs in six innings while surrendering six hits and walking just one batter. He also struck out three in the game and only a Joc Pederson double went for extra basses. Cain did a nice job avoiding serious trouble.

As for De La Rosa, he gave up seven earned runs in just four innings against the Padres on Saturday. The biggest problem for De La Rosa is that his fastball velocity continues to decline, which is an issue when a) pitching in Coors Field and b) when facing an offense as dangerous as the one San Francisco will put forth today.
OUR PICK: The Giants burned us yesterday when Jake Peavy and the bullpen faltered in a 10-6 defeat that was close until Nolan Arenado delivered the death blow in the bottom of the 8th with a three-run shot off reliever Josh Osich. It was part of a 4-for-5 night for Arenado, who drove in seven runs in the game. Still, the Giants are a solid buy at only -130, especially with De La Rosa on the hill for Colorado. Look for San Francisco to bounce back today.
