Rodriguez strong again in win
Giants rookie starting pitcher Dereck Rodriguez hurled 6 1/3 innings of one-run ball last night to guide his team to a 5-1 victory at the A’s. He gave up three hits, struck out five and did not walk a batter. Pablo Sandoval was 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a double and a walk to help pace the offense. Ryder Jones contributed a solo home run in four at-bats. Andrew McCutchen finished 1-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI.
Canha drives in lone run
Athletics left fielder Mark Canha did not have a hit in four plate appearances Friday night, but he did record a sacrifice fly that produced the only run for the hosts. Khris Davis was 1-for-4 with a double and scored the run. Marcus Semien and Stephen Piscotty each had a double in four at-bats. Edwin Jackson took the loss as he surrendered three earned runs on four hits over 6 1/3 innings, striking out six and walking one.
Madison Bumgarner (3-3, 2.90 ERA) draws the start today for San Francisco, while Trevor Cahill (1-2, 3.10) is on the mound for Oakland.
MLB Betting Trends
San Francisco
The under is 15-6-1 in the last 22 Giants games overall. San Francisco is 2-10 in Bumgarner’s last 12 road starts.
Oakland
The Athletics are 8-2 in their last 10 interleague games. Oakland is 21-7 in its last 28 games overall.
Prediction:
I know the Athletics could still be considered red-hot even after yesterday’s loss, plus Bumgarner has struggled to win on the road. But I think you can throw all that out here. You can bet on the better pitcher as a dog and he’ll still be in a pitcher’s park. Cahill is solid, but as long as San Francisco can get two him for a few runs it should be a solid bet.
