Giants end skid
San Francisco put an end to a four-game losing streak on Saturday with a 10-5 victory at Oakland. The Giants are 64-65 overall, 35-32 on the road and 62-60 with the over. San Francisco has Logan Webb getting the start today. He is 1-0 on the season with a 1.80 ERA.
The Giants put up eight runs in the eighth inning to get the win on Saturday. Brandon Crawford homered and drove in two runs while Stephen Vogt also went long and drove in three runs. Alex Dickerson added three hits and scored two runs. Madison Bumgarner got the start and allowed just two runs over five innings. The San Francisco bullpen then threw four innings, using seven pitchers. Sam Coonrod got the win to improve to 3-0 on the year.
Athletics lose, but playing well
Oakland is coming off the loss on Saturday, but the Athletics still have won seven of their last nine games. Oakland is now 74-54 overall, 43-25 at home and 68-58 with the under. The Athletics have Brett Anderson on the mound today. He is 10-9 on the season with a 4.06 ERA.
Chris Bassitt got the start for Oakland, throwing 5.2 innings and allowing two runs. The Athletics bullpen blew up, with Yusmeiro Petit taking the loss by giving up three runs while not recording an out. Mark Canha homered to lead the Athletics at the plate while Marcus Semien and Matt Chapman each had two hits and drove in a run.
MLB Betting Trends
San Francisco
The Giants are 5-1 in their last six interleague road games and 6-2 in their last eight Sunday games.
Oakland
The Athletics are 7-1 in their last eight games against a right-handed starter and 20-6 in their last 26 games following a loss.
Prediction:
Webb made his MLB debut last week and pitched pretty well at Arizona, but I think today could be a tougher go. The Athletics have been playing well and they should be able to bounce back from last night’s loss. Anderson hasn’t been lights out, but he has been steady for most of the year. The Giants had to use a lot of arms last night, so I suspect their bullpen could be pretty thin this afternoon. That is where Oakland can really take advantage.
MLB Prediction: Oakland Athletics -155
