Mariners back on track
The Mariners have won the first three games in this series with an 8-7 victory in 11 innings on Wednesday. Seattle has now won four of its last five. Seattle is currently 50-31 overall and 25-17 on the road. The Mariners are putting up 4.38 runs per game this season while allowing 4.21 per contest.
Mike Leake gets the start for the Mariners on Thursday. He is 8-4 through 16 starts in 2018 and carries a 4.11 ERA with a 1.23 WHIP. Leake has pitched a total of 100.2 innings and has 60 strikeouts with 23 walks.
Orioles edged again
The Orioles suffered a fourth straight loss on Wednesday, losing by one run for the second straight night. Baltimore is now 23-56 overall and 11-26 at home. The Orioles are putting up just 3.65 runs per game this season while allowing 5.14 runs per contest.
The Orioles are giving the ball to Jacob Yacabonis today. Yacabonis has appeared in just two games this season, both in relief. This will be his first career start. In his 2.1 innings of work this year, he has given up four earned runs with five walks and just one strikeout.
MLB Betting Trends
Seattle
The Mariners have won eight of Leake’s last nine starts overall and his last five starts on the road. They are also 26-12 in their last 38 overall.
Baltimore
The Orioles are 2-6 in their last 8 Thursday games and 13-42 in their last 55 against a right-handed starter.
Prediction:
It’s hard to see how Yacabonis is going to give the Orioles much chance to win. He has never started and has looked awful in his brief appearances this year. Leake has been pretty steady for Seattle and should be able to have success against this average Baltimore lineup. I think Seattle is great value only being favored what it is.
The Pick: Seattle Mariners -150
