Indians bounce back
After dropping the series opener on Thursday, 5-4, Cleveland bounced back on Friday with a 6-5 victory to move to 14-10 on the season and 8-4 at home. The Tribe are averaging 3.62 runs per game this season while allowing 3.17 per contest.
Carlos Carrasco gets the start for the Indians today. He has a perfect 4-0 record through 5 starts with a 2.31 ERA and a 0.86 WHIP. That includes a win over Seattle back on March 31 despite allowing five earned runs. Over 35 innings of work this year, Carrasco has 28 strikeouts with six walks.
Mariners end win streak
Seattle had its three-game win streak come to an end on Friday in the 1-run loss to the Indians. Seattle is now 14-11 overall and 9-6 on the road. The Mariners are putting up 4.24 runs per game on offense while allowing 4.88 per contest.
Mike Leake will get the start for the Mariners today. Leake is coming off a really poor start where he allowed eight earned runs in 3.1 innings against the White Sox. He has given up 13 runs over his last two starts. On the year he has a 2-2 record with a 6.59 ERA and a 1.61 WHIP.
MLB Betting Trends
Seattle
The Mariners have lost nine of their last 12 road games against a team with a winning record and just 8-21 in their last 29 against a winning team overall.
Cleveland
The Indians have won 41 of their last 55 home games coming into today and they have also won nine of their last 11 on a Saturday. In Carrasco’s last 30 home starts, Cleveland has won 22 of them.
Prediction:
These first two games have been close, but I think Cleveland can create some separation today. Carrasco has been strong at home and just sound overall since the first start against the Mariners. Leake is a real mess right now and giving up runs by the handfuls in short order. I think Cleveland jumps on him early and give Carrasco all the run support he will need.
The Pick: Cleveland Indians -1.5 (-115)
