Mariners drop two of three at Angels
Seattle was trounced by a count of 11-2 Thursday night for its second loss in three days at Los Angeles. James Paxton suffered the loss as he allowed three earned runs on three hits with one strikeout and no walks before departing following two-thirds of an inning. Dee Gordon was 2-for-5 with a run to help pace the Seattle offense. Nelson Cruz went 1-for-3 with a walk. Denard Span finished 2-for-3 with a walk and a run.
Rockies win second straight over D-backs
After suffering nine straight home losses to Arizona including Tuesday’s series opener, Colorado won two straight over its NL West foes by scores of 19-2 and 5-1. D.J. LeMahieu helped pace the Rockies offense Thursday as he was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Trevor Story was 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk. Chris Iannetta went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run. Scott Oberg picked up the win as he threw two-thirds of an inning of perfect relief, striking out one.
Christian Bergman (0-0, 0.00 ERA) will start today for Seattle, while Antonio Senzatela (3-2, 5.34) will go for Colorado.
MLB Betting Trends
Seattle
The Mariners are 6-2 in their last eight Friday games. Seattle is 11-5 in its last 16 games overall.
Colorado
The Rockies are 7-2 in their last nine games. Colorado is 1-7 in its last eight home games against Seattle.
Prediction:
It seems like cruel and unusual punishment for Seattle to call up Christian Bergman and force him to make his first start since May 16 at Coors Field. All jokes aside, I do like the host Rockies here. They have some swagger now after winning a couple over Arizona and Senzatela has appeared comfortable on the mound lately. Bergman threw seven shutout innings at home against the Rangers in May, but this is a whole different beast. Take Colorado to win a third straight home game.
