M’s give up four homers in loss
Seattle lost by a 12-3 score at Los Angeles Saturday night to drop to 27-41 overall and 14-19 on the road. Edwin Encarnacion helped lead the Mariners offense as he finished 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk. Domingo Santana finished 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Kyle Seager was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Yusei Kikuchi took the loss as he surrendered seven runs (six earned) on nine hits with one strikeout and three walks over 3 1/3 innings. Wade LeBlanc will start today as he is 2-2 on the season with a 5.70 ERA and 1.40 WHIP with 25 strikeouts over 36 1/3 innings.
Angels crush three straight HRs in win
Tommy La Stella, Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani hit back-to-back-to-back home runs Saturday night in a 12-3 victory at Seattle. La Stella helped pace the offense as he finished 2-for-6 with a solo home run and two runs scored. Trout went 2-for-3 with a solo homer, a walk and two runs. Ohtani was 3-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and three runs scored. Cesar Puello ended the night 3-for-4 a home run and four RBIs. Dillon Peters picked up the win as he gave up three earned runs on seven hits with four strikeouts and no walks over 5 2/3 innings. Jose Suarez will get the start this afternoon as he gave up three earned runs on five hits with four strikeouts and three walks over 5 2/3 innings in a June 2 13-3 victory at the Mariners.
MLB Betting Trends
Seattle
The Mariners are 4-17 in their last 21 road games. Seattle is 5-1 in the last six LeBlanc starts on the road.
Los Angeles
The Angels are 1-4 in their last five games overall. Los Angeles is 5-11 in the last 16 meetings.
Prediction:
Los Angeles got some great offense last night, but it might be more difficult today as LeBlanc can frustrate opposing offenses into poor at-bats. He hasn’t been at his best this season, but has a track record of decent starts the last few seasons. Suarez is still an unknown commodity, but Seattle has the benefit of being the only MLB team to have seen him so far. He might try what worked for him last time and sometimes that gets you in trouble at the MLB level. Taking a shot on Seattle here.
