Lopes drives in pair
Seattle fell by a score of 7-3 Friday night at Toronto to drop to 50-73 overall and 23-37 on the road. The Mariners scored twice in the top of the second inning, but gave up three in the bottom half and another three in the third en route to the defeat. Tim Lopes finished 1-for-3 with two RBIs to help pace the Seattle offense. Austin Nola went 1-for-3 with a double and a walk. Dee Gordon ended the night 1-for-3 with a triple and a run scored. Wade LeBlanc suffered the loss as he surrendered seven earned runs on 11 hits with three strikeouts and one walk over seven innings as the bulk reliever. Reggie McClain will draw the start today as he enters with a 0-0 record, 4.50 ERA and 1.00 WHIP with five strikeouts over six innings of work.
Jays homer four times
Toronto used a pair of three-run innings early Friday night at home to cruise to a 7-3 win over Seattle. Randal Grichuk helped lead the Blue Jays offensively as he went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk. Derek Fisher ended the game 1-for-3 with a homer and two RBIs. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Danny Jansen was 1-for-3 with a solo homer. Jacob Waguespack picked up the win as he gave up two earned runs on five hits with five strikeouts and one walk over 5 1/3 innings pitched. Trent Thornton gets the start tonight as he comes in with a 4-8 record, 5.34 ERA and 1.48 WHIP with 110 strikeouts over 114 2/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Seattle
The Mariners are 3-9 in their last 12 games. Seattle is 2-14 in its last 16 Saturday games.
Toronto
The Blue Jays are 4-1 in their last five Saturday games. Toronto is 3-7 in the last 10 Thornton home starts.
Prediction:
I don’t trust the Mariners much at all these days and while Thornton has had a rocky season, he is coming off a fine start and has been good in three of his last six outings. With Seattle posing a less than threatening offense against him, I think he finds another strong start in the tank. He’ll also get run support as I highly doubt McClain and company will shut down a Blue Jays offense that has found some life at times lately.
