Cardinals’ Garcia to give Brewers fits again?
After taking back-to-back beatings from St. Louis, Milwaukee was probably hoping for a more manageable assignment in today’s series finale. Jaime Garcia offers no such luxury.
The lefty leads his third-place squad into battle with Craig Counsell’s group at 1:40 p.m. ET. Online sports book Bovada.lv gives the Cardinals odds of -164 to complete the sweep. The host Brewers, conversely, are +149 underdogs.

Mike Matheny’s troops had an ample amount of fun in the opener, blanking the Brew Crew 6-0. Yesterday, however, got downright silly in a hurry. The visitors pounded out 10 runs and 14 base knocks vs. Wily Peralta and company. Third baseman Matt Carpenter tallied his second straight four-hit game, while Jedd Gyorko’s three-run blast in the eighth provided the exclamation point.
Given St. Louis’ hurler this afternoon, the Miller Park spectators may want to prepare themselves for another rout. Garcia is 10-4 with a 2.45 ERA in 17 regular-season starts against Milwaukee. He even boasts a 1.45 ERA and 0.72 WHIP in five meetings since the beginning of 2015.

Good luck to Zach Davies (2-3, 5.40 ERA), then. The righty does have a 3.00 ERA in his past three appearances at home. Asking him to neutralize Carpenter, Matt Holliday and the rest of the Cards’ scorching sluggers, though, seems a bit much.
