Rays keep rolling
The Rays kept rolling on Monday, earning a 3-2 victory at Detroit for its ninth win in 10 games. Tampa is now 13-14 overall and 7-7 on the road. Tampa is averaging 4.70 runs per game this season while allowing 4.89 per contest
Chris Archer gets the start for the Rays tonight. He is struggling this year, as he is 2-1 with a 6.61 ERA and a 1.59 WHIP. Over 32.2 innings of work, Archer has 36 strikeouts with 11 walks.
Tigers having hitting woes again
Following the 3-2 loss on Monday, the Tigers have now lost five of their last six games. In the five losses, Detroit has scored a total of seven runs. The Tigers are now 11-16 overall and 6-8 at home. Detroit is averaging 4.59 runs per game on offense this year while allowing 4.74 per game on the mound.
Matthew Boyd is getting the start for the Tigers tonight. He is 0-2 on the season with a 2.74 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP. Through 23 innings of work, Boyd has 14 strikeouts with seven walks. Three of his four starts have seen him allow just one run.
MLB Betting Trends
Tampa
The Rays have won five of their last six road games and four of their last five against a left-handed starter. They have also won four straight against AL Central opponents.
Detroit
The Tigers have lost 12 of Boyd’s last 14 starts overall and five straight of his Tuesday starts and 10 of his last 13 home starts.
Prediction:
The Tigers are a team that goes through some pretty bad hitting funks and that is the case right now. Archer certainly isn’t pitching well right now, but I think he can have a good start against Detroit. The Rays are also getting a hitting surge during this win streak. I think they have too much momentum going for a team like Detroit to stop them.
The Pick: Tampa Bay Rays -150
