Snell struggles in loss
Tampa Bay lost by a score of 9-6 at Detroit Tuesday night to drop to 35-23 overall and 18-9 on the road. Blake Snell suffered the loss as he allowed six earned runs on seven hits with eight strikeouts and two walks over 4 1/3 innings. Willy Adames paced the Rays offense as he finished 2-for-4 with a grand slam. Avisail Garcia was 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Guillermo Heredia went 2-for-3. Charlie Morton starts tonight for Tampa Bay as he enters with a 6-0 record, 2.54 ERA and 1.10 WHIP with 83 strikeouts over 67 1/3 innings of work.
Cabrera smacks gran slam
Detroit earned a 9-6 home victory Tuesday night over Tampa Bay to improve to 23-34 overall and 10-17 at home. Miguel Cabrera helped pace the Tigers offense as he went 3-for-4 with a grand slam, a double and five RBIs. Niko Goodrum finished 3-for-5 with two runs. Dawel Lugo was 3-for-4 with a triple, a run and two RBIs. Nicholas Castellanos ended the contest 1-for-3 with two walks and two runs scored. Ryan Carpenter picked up the win as he gave up two earned runs on seven hits with three strikeouts and no walks over seven innings. Spencer Turnbull will get the start tonight for Detroit as he comes in with a 3-4 record, 2.84 ERA and 1.26 WHIP with 64 strikeouts over 66 2/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Tampa Bay
The Rays are 0-4 in their last four games versus the AL Central. Tampa Bay is 5-2 in the last seven Morton starts.
Detroit
The Tigers are 5-14 in their last 19 games overall. Detroit is 1-9 in its last 10 home games.
Prediction:
Detroit got to Snell last night, but will see a completely different look tonight from the efficient Morton. He has been very consistent this season and I expect an underwhelming Tigers offense to struggle against him. Turnbull has stranded a lot of baserunners this season, but eventually that luck tends to even out. I think he gets hit relatively hard tonight by a potent Rays lineup as they even this series at a game apiece.
