Rays shut out at Marlins
Tampa Bay dropped two out of three games at Miami earlier this week, winning a 16-inning marathon in the middle game but finishing with a 3-0 defeat Wednesday afternoon. Joey Wendle had half the hits as he was 2-for-2 plus a walk, while C.J. Cron went 1-for-4 with a double. Jesus Sucre finished 1-for-2 with a walk. Ryan Weber took the loss in relief as he allowed two earned runs on four hits with one strikeout and one walk over five innings.
Mets split at Blue Jays
After losing the first game in Toronto, New York rebounded with a 6-3 win on Wednesday. Brandon Nimmo was 1-for-3 with two walks, a run and an RBI from the leadoff spot. Asdrubal Cabrera finished 2-for-4 with an RBI. Michael Conforto was 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. Wilmer Flores finished 2-for-4 with a double and a run. Todd Frazier was 2-for-4 with a 2-run homer. Kevin Plawecki ended the game 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and two runs. Seth Lugo earned the win in relief as he gave up one earned run on three hits with two strikeouts and no walks in three innings.
Ryne Stanek (1-2, 1.98 ERA) will start in today’s bullpen day for the Rays, while the Mets turn to deGrom (5-4, 1.84).
MLB Betting Trends
Tampa Bay
The Rays are 10-5 against the moneyline when the total is 7 runs or less this season. The Rays are 42-36 in road night games over the last two seasons.
New York
The Mets are 14-26 in home games this season. New York is 6-11 in deGrom’s 17 starts this season.
Prediction:
Tampa Bay was red-hot before going to Miami and losing that series. While deGrom has been awesome this season, the Mets have rarely helped him out. As long as Tampa Bay’s bullpen guys do their job, the visitors have a fantastic chance of stealing one here. I’m going to take a shot on the underdogs.
