Public Betting Trends

According to oddsmakers, the Yankees are favored at home, as they are getting odds of -160 to win. The Rays are listed with a money line of +140 to prevail, while the over/under total is listed at 10 runs. The public betting for the contest currently has 81 percent going on New York at home. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our MLB Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.

Rays end win streak

Tampa saw its three-game win streak come to an end on Tuesday night in an 8-3 loss to the Yankees. The Rays are 56-41 on the season, 30-19 on the road and 48-40 with the under. Tampa has Yonny Chirinos getting the start today. He is 8-4 on the season with a 3.11 ERA.

The Rays led the Yankees for most of Tuesday’s game, but a six-run outburst for New York in the eighth allowed Tampa to take the loss. Colin Poche gave up the six runs on four hits to take the loss, his third of the year. At the plate, Austin Meadows and Yandy Diaz each homered in the loss. Diaz drove in two runs to lead the Rays.

Yankees break out of hitting slump

The Yankees have alternated wins and losses over their last six games, including Tuesday’s win. The 8-run output ended a six-game streak of scoring four runs or less. New York is now 60-33 on the season, 34-16 at home and 49-40 with the over. New York has Domingo German on the mound today. He is 11-2 on the season with a 3.40 ERA.

The Yankees rallied late and finally found their hitting on Tuesday night. Edwin Encarnacion homered again for the Yankees, his 28th of the season, while Aaron Judge, DJ LeMahieu and Didi Gregorius also went long in the victory. Gregorius had a grand slam. C.C. Sabathia threw six innings in the start, allowing three runs on five hits with six strikeouts. David Hale got the win in relief to improve to 3-0 on the season.

MLB Betting Trends

Tampa

The Rays are 6-2 in their last eight AL East games and 5-2 in their last seven road games.

New York

The Yankees are 24-8 in their last 32 games against a winning team and 7-1 in their last eight Game 3’s of a series.

Prediction:

German has pitched pretty well this season, but has not been able to get terribly deep into games. His only start against the Rays was five innings and he gave up three runs. Chirinos has gotten deep into games this year and gives up a few runs each time, but hasn’t really blown up. In four appearances against the Yankees, he has a 3.32 ERA over 21.2 innings. I still feel like New York is not hitting well. The six runs was a positive outburst for them, but the Yankees were still struggling for most of Tuesday night. I think those struggles will continue against Chrinos while the Rays find ways to score on German and the New York bullpen.

MLB Prediction: Tampa Bay Rays +140
