Rangers avoid sweep
Texas had dropped the first two of the series before picking up a 4-0 win over the White Sox on Saturday. The Rangers are 64-67 on the season, 26-40 on the road and 67-60 with the under. Brock Burke is getting the start for the Rangers this afternoon. He is 0-0 on the year with a 0.00 ERA.
The Rangers got clutch pitching on Saturday, as they held the White Sox to eight hits while recording 14 strikeouts and no walks. Kolby Allard got the win by throwing the first 6.1 innings and striking out eight. At the plate, Danny Santana and Willie Calhoun each homered and drove in two runs for Texas.
White Sox end win streak
Chicago had its three-game win streak come to an end on Saturday in the 4-0 loss to the Rangers at home. The Sox are 59-70 on the season, 32-32 at home and 65-59 with the under. The Sox have Reynaldo Lopez on the mound tonight. He is 7-11 on the season with a 5.25 ERA.
The White Sox couldn’t come through with the breakout hit on Saturday, as they stranded nine baserunners in the loss. Seven of the eight hits were singles and Jose Abreu led the way with two of them. Ryan Goins had the lone double. Ivan Nova had another solid start, but he took the loss by allowing one earned run over 5.2 innings. He is now 9-10 on the year.
MLB Betting Trends
Texas
The Rangers are 6-13 in their last 19 games overall and 3-8 in their last 11 road games.
Chicago
The White Sox are 8-2 in their last 10 following a loss, but just 10-21 in their last 31 against AL West opponents.
Prediction:
Burke has thrown in just one game this year, pitching six scoreless against the Angels at home in his MLB debut. Lopez has been a bit shaky, giving up 12 runs over his last 11.1 innings. He gave up three runs over 5.1 innings to the Rangers earlier this year. Chicago is a team that doesn’t have a lot of hitting outside of Abreu. I think the Sox could struggle again today against Allard. Lopez seems certain to give up a few runs.
MLB Prediction: Texas Rangers +110
