According to our MLB Public Betting Chart page, 67% of the betting tickets are on the A’s to beat the Rangers on the moneyline.
Texas Rangers Fantasy Spin
Joey Gallo finished 3-for-4 with a walk on Tuesday, pushing his batting average up to .300. Gallo, who was hitting .171 before his recent surge, has had multiple hits in six of his last eight games. He’s not going to keep this up for long, but it does seem likely that he’ll easily eclipse his usual .20x batting average this year.
Oakland A’s Fantasy Spin
Stephen Piscotty went 4-for-5 with a triple and three runs scored as the A’s topped the Rangers 11-5 on Tuesday. Piscotty has 10 hits in his last five games, which has raised his average from .228 to .286. Perhaps the A’s will give him another look in the third spot in the order now; he’s mostly been batting sixth of late.
MLB Betting Trends
Texas
The Rangers have dropped all four of Drew Smyly’s last four starts.
Oakland
The A’s are 1-4 in Aaron Brooks’ last five home starts.
Prediction:
Smyly has really struggled this season, as he’s allowing .432 xwOBA and a 63% hard contact rate to right-handed hitters. The A’s have a lineup chockfull of right-handed hitters with power, so Oakland should generate plenty of runs this afternoon. On the other side, Brooks has a low strikeout rate, a low ground ball rate and gives up home runs. This ballpark is set up for pitchers but there’s a reason why this total is sitting at 9.5.
The Pick: Rangers/A’s OVER 9.5
