Blue Jays continue slide
Toronto suffered a 6-4 loss to Texas on Friday to take their third consecutive loss and fifth loss in six games. The Blue Jays are now 14-11 on the season and 8-6 at home. The Blue Jays now average 5.24 runs per game at the plate while allowing 4.24 per contest.
Jaime Garcia gets the start for Toronto today. He is 2-1 through four starts with a 4.57 ERA and a 1.43 WHIP. Over 21.2 innings of work, Garcia has 23 strikeouts with eight walks.
Texas can’t get on track
The Texas Rangers have won back-to-back games for the first time in a while thanks to Friday’s win. The Rangers are now 10-17 overall and 6-5 on the road. Texas is putting up 3.70 runs per game this season while allowing 5.07 per game.
Bartolo Colon gets the start on Saturday for the Rangers. He has started three games this season and appeared in five. Colon has a 2.59 ERA and just a 0.86 WHIP over 24.1 innings of work. Colon has also recorded 19 strikeouts with just three walks.
MLB Betting Trends
Texas
Texas has lost nine of its last 11 following a win and the Rangers are just 3-7 in their last 10 Saturday games. They also have lost five straight against a left-handed starter.
Toronto
The Blue Jays have won five of their last 6 home games against a right-handed starter and 7 of their last 10 against a team with a winning percentage below .400.
Prediction:
I like what Colon has done, but he hasn’t been logging big innings and I don’t trust the Texas bullpen to be able to keep Toronto off the board. The Rangers aren’t great at stringing wins together and Toronto is due to break out of this funk. They hit the ball too well to not pick up a win this weekend.
The Pick: Toronto Blue Jays -175
