Jays fall hard again
The Toronto Blue Jays have lost the first two games in this series by a combined score of 22-4 after suffering a 7-2 loss on Saturday. Toronto is 25-45 overall, 13-23 on the road and 35-33 with the under. Trent Thornton is getting the start for the Blue Jays today. He is 1-5 on the season with a 4.78 ERA.
Toronto was held to six hits on Saturday while allowing the Astros to spread out their seven runs over four different innings. Freddy Galvis and Eric Sogard each had two hits to lead Toronto while Sogard had one of the two RBI. On the mound, Clayton Richard got the start and lasted five innings while allowing five runs on seven hits. He took the loss to fall to 0-3 on the start.
Astros cruise to another win
Houston has four of its last five games following a five-run win over the Jays on Saturday. The Astros are 48-23 on the season, 27-10 at home and 38-30 with the under. Houston has Brad Peacock on the mound today. He is 6-3 on the season with a 3.42 ERA.
Framber Valdez got the win on the mound for the Astros on Saturday. He pitched six innings and allowed two runs with eight strikeouts. He improved to 3-2 on the season with the victory. Jack Mayfield had three hits with three runs and a RBI while Yordan Alvarez had three hits with a RBI.
MLB Betting Trends
Toronto
The Blue Jays are 2-9 in their last 11 road games and 3-13 in their last 16 games following a loss.
Houston
The Astros are 40-16 in their last 56 home games and 55-24 in their last 79 games following a win.
Prediction:
Peacock is coming off a shaky start against Milwaukee, but he has been pretty steady for the last month for Houston. The Astros have won six of his last seven starts. Thornton has given up at least three runs in four straight starts and I don’t think that will get better today against Houston. The Astros have been able to hit the ball despite their injuries and their pitching staff is strong all around.
MLB Prediction: Houston Astros -1.5 (-115)
