Minnesota Twins DFS SPIN
Ryan Jeffers went 3-for-5 and belted a two-run homer in the 10th to lead the Twins to a 7-5 win over the Astros on Monday. This writer doesn’t use the word belted very often, but it’s really the only way to describe Jeffers’ shot to left off Bryan Abreu. The liner left the bat at 117.4 mph, a stunning feat for a player who, in 208 major league games, had never before hit a ball harder than 113.2 mph. Jeffers is hitting .254/.384/.451 this season, which is a big improvement on what Christian Vazquez is doing. The Twins clearly prefer Vazquez’s defense, but it still seems like it’d be worth giving Jeffers more time behind the plate.
Houston Astros DFS SPIN
Jose Altuve hit his seventh career grand slam Monday against the Twins. That’s a nice change, as Altuve had been 0-for-19 with the bases loaded since the beginning of last year. The slam today came in the seventh inning off Brock Stewart. It was his second homer in eight games since returning from a broken thumb.
