Updated AL East Odds to Win
(The Spread) – In an ultra competitive American League East, Robinson Cano’s New York Yankees are favored to finish the 2012 regular season on top in the division.
Oddsmakers have installed the Yankees as -133 money line favorites to win the American League East Division this season, while the Tampa Bay Rays have the next best odds at +700. Despite their struggles in the first half, the Boston Red Sox are +750 to win the AL East while the Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays are the long shots at +1000.
At the break, the Yankees are currently in first place at 52-33 and lead the Orioles (45-40) by seven games. The Rays are 7.5 games back of New York at 45-41 and the Red Sox are 9.5 games back at 43-43. The Blue Jays, meanwhile, have an identical 43-43 record as Boston.
The Yankees are also currently favored to win the 2012 World Series at 9/2 while the Rays are 18/1 and the Red Sox are 22/1. The Blue Jays are 35/1 and since oddsmakers clearly don’t believe that they’ll sustain their good play, the Orioles are 50/1 long shots to win this year’s Fall Classic.
Not surprisingly, the Yankees are 5/2 favorites to win the 2012 AL Pennant although the Rangers are also 5/2, respectively. The Rays are 10/1 to win this year’s AL Pennant, the Red Sox are 11/1 and the Blue Jays are 18/1. The Orioles, meanwhile, are 22/1 long shots to emerge as the American League representatives in this year’s World Series.
2012 American League East Odds to Win
New York Yankees -133
Tampa Bay Rays +700
Boston Red Sox +750
