Updated 2012 World Series Odds
(The Spread) – Baseball will kick off its second half today so there’s no better time to look at the updated odds for the 2012 World Series, where the New York Yankees are currently favored to win.
Oddsmakers have installed the Yankees as 9/2 favorites to win the 2012 World Series while the Texas Rangers have the next best odds at 21/4. The Los Angeles Angels follow the Rangers at 10/1 and both the San Francisco Giants and Washington Nationals are 11/1, respectively, and round out the top 5 in terms of odds.
The rest of the top 10 includes the Cincinnati Reds and Detroit Tigers at 14/1, respectively, as well as the Atlanta Braves, Chicago White Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers, whom are all 16/1 to win this year’s Fall Classic, respectively. Only the Yankees, Rangers, Nationals, White Sox and Dodgers are currently in first place in their division at the All-Star Break.

Continuing with the odds, the Tampa Bay Rays are 18/1 while the defending World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals are 20/1. The Boston Red Sox are 22/1, the Philadelphia Phillies and Pittsburgh Pirates are both 30/1 to win, respectively, and the Arizona Diamondbacks, Miami Marlins and Toronto Blue Jays are all 35/1, respectively.
The Yankees currently own the highest win-loss percentage of any baseball team at .612 with a record of 52-33. They’ve won six of their last 10 games and have a run differential of +65, which ranks them third behind the Rangers (+79) and Cardinals (+70).The hottest teams entering the second half are the Pirates (winners of eight of their last 10) and the White Sox (winners of seven of their last 10).
