Updated 2021 World Series Odds
Major League Baseball has reached its All-Star Break and with that, it’s a good time to update teams’ odds to win the 2021 World Series. It’s no surprise which team is favored to win it all, although that same club isn’t even in first place at the break.
The Favorite
According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Dodgers are favored to win the 2021 World Series at +400, although they’re currently two games behind the Giants in the National League. That said, the defending champs have a +142 run differential, which is the highest in baseball. It’ll be interesting to see what happens with starter Trevor Bauer, who is currently on administration leave due to an off-field incident.
The Challenger
The Astros have the next-best odds behind the Dodgers at +450 and also have the highest run differential in the American League at +136. With the White Sox still banged-up and the Yankees vastly underperforming in the AL East, it makes sense that Houston at 55-36 would have the best odds to win the pennant. The Astros closed the first half on a 7-3 run.
The Other Contenders
The White Sox are +850 to win the World Series, as are the Padres. The offseason darlings, the Mets, are +900 to win the World Series, followed by the Red Sox at +1200 and the Brewers at +1300. The surprise of the first half, the Giants, are +1300 as everyone attempts to figure out whether or not Gabe Kapler’s team is legit or not. At +1600 are the Rays, followed by the A’s at +1800. The disappointing Yankees are +2500, as are their AL East counterparts, the Blue Jays.
The Long Shots
If the Yankees are the most disappointing team in the American League, that honor goes to the Braves in the National League. While injuries have certainly impacted Atlanta’s odds of winning it all this season, the Braves just flat out aren’t playing well. With Ronald Acuna Jr. now on the shelf for the foreseeable future after tearing his ACL, the Braves are in serious trouble. They’re +4600 to win this year’s World Series, which puts them in the same category as the Nationals (+5000), Indians (+5500), Reds (+6000) and Cubs (+6000) in terms of the odds. The Phillies, meanwhile, are +7000, followed by the Angels and Cardinals at +10000, respectively.
The Rest
The Twins got out of the gates slow and never recovered. They’re +20000 to win the 2021 World Series, followed by the Mariners and Marlins at +30000, respectively. The Rangers are +50000, as are the Pirates, Diamondbacks, Orioles, Royals, Tigers and Rockies, respectively.
