Nats held to two hits
Washington recorded two only two in Thursday night’s 6-0 loss at Los Angeles in Game 1 of the NLDS. Trea Turner was 1-for-4 with a double, while Juan Soto also finished 1-for-4. Howie Kendrick went 0-for-2 plus a walk. Patrick Corbin took the loss as he allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits with nine strikeouts and five walks over six innings. Stephen Strasburg will start tonight for the Nationals as he went 18-6 with a 3.32 ERA and 1,04 WHIP plus 251 strikeouts over 209 innings pitched during the regular season. He also threw three shutout innings in the 4-3 NL Wild Card Game win Tuesday night.
Buehler guides Dodgers to win
Los Angeles cruised to a 6-0 home victory Thursday night over Washington in Game 1 of the NLDS. Walker Buehler notched the win on the mound as he threw six shutout innings with only one hit allowed plus eight strikeouts and three walks. Joc Pederson helped lead the Dodgers offense as he was 1-for-1 off the bench with a solo home run, a walk and two runs scored. Gavin Lax was 1-for-1 with a pinch-hit solo homer. Max Muncy ended the game 2-for-3 with a walk plus three RBIs. Clayton Kershaw gets the start tonight after going 16-5 in the regular season with a 3.03 ERA and 1.04 WHIP plus 189 strikeouts over 178 1/3 innings pitched.
MLB Betting Trends
Washington
The Nationals are 4-0 in their last four games following a loss. Washington is 42-15 in the last 57 Strasburg road starts.
Los Angeles
The Dodgers are 6-0 in their last six NLDS home games. Los Angeles is 46-12 in the last Kershaw home starts.
Prediction:
Los Angeles is dominant at home, but Kershaw has had some well-documented playoff struggles. Strasburg looked very sharp Tuesday and although he’s on short rest, he’s a veteran who can handle these moments. He’s been very good on the road and I’m going to take a shot on the Nationals here to gain the road split before heading back to D.C.
